Gah. I've been sick for the last couple of days, so I haven't gotten anything done lately. Stupid Totino's and their stupid recall that I didn't know about until after I'd eaten half the freaking bag of E. coli laden pizza rolls. So now I'm about 3000 words behind where I should be, and considering I'm going to see Avenue Q tomorrow night, I don't anticipate getting much done tomorrow, which means I have to write like crazy tonight. But first: I need chocolate and coffee. And Pepto Bismol.

So I'm still phenominally slow, but I think I'm getting better. I think it's frustration more than anything that's got me starting to forget about quality and just write, but I'll take what I can get for now. I'm still hitting a few stumbling blocks like "Oh my god, this is the most boring beginning of a book ever" and "Why is my main character reverting to spoiled brat territory? I thought I worked him through all that!" But I'm mostly still writing set up, so I figure once I get to the real meat and potatoes of the book it'll get better. Hopefully, if all goes as I'm trying to manage, I'll be through the set up phase by tomorrow's write in...

And so it begins.

I started writing at 8:00-ish, since 7:00 p.m. central time is 12:00 a.m. GMT, which is what the website says it uses for the deadline. So that means I need to have 50,000 words by 6:59 p.m. central time on Nov. 30. No pressure, especially since I am having a REALLY hard time keeping my inner editor locked up. Maybe I need to invest in a solid pair of shackles. Or a nice padded cell. I have a feeling I'll need one by the end of the month...
